everything<\/strong>. In a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.animalsalut.com\/veterinario-a-domicilio\/\">home veterinary visit<\/a> you can carry out check-ups, vaccinations, microchipping, control tests, monitoring of chronic diseases and assessment of animals that become very stressed when leaving home. But there are procedures that require facilities, equipment or specific monitoring, such as X-rays, surgeries, hospitalization or emergency care.<\/p><p data-start=\"1074\" data-end=\"1516\">\u00a0<\/p><p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"1518\" data-end=\"1930\">At Animal Salut we have been carrying out home veterinary visits in Barcelona for more than 10 years. In fact, we were one of the first home veterinarians in Barcelona to commit to this type of care, when it was not yet such a common service. That experience has taught us something important: home visits can be a great help for many animals, but they should be used in the appropriate cases.<\/p><p data-start=\"1518\" data-end=\"1930\">\u00a0<\/p><h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-section-id=\"nmmk46\" data-start=\"1932\" data-end=\"1976\">What is a home veterinary visit<\/h2><p>\u00a0<\/p><p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"1978\" data-end=\"2129\">A <a href=\"https:\/\/www.animalsalut.com\/blog\/veterinario-domicilio-barcelona\/\">home veterinary visit<\/a> is a consultation in which the veterinarian travels to your home to assess your pet in its usual environment.<\/p><p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"2131\" data-end=\"2515\">It can be a very useful option for dogs, cats and other animals that get stressed by transport, elderly animals, families with multiple pets or people with mobility problems. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.animalsalut.com\/centro-veterinario\/\">Animal Salut<\/a> already offers this service in Barcelona and the surrounding area, with home visits for procedures such as vaccinations, microchipping, laboratory tests and check-ups.<\/p><p data-start=\"2131\" data-end=\"2515\">\u00a0<\/p><p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"2517\" data-end=\"2833\">The big difference is that the animal does not have to go through the whole process of leaving the house. In many cases, the stress does not begin at the appointment, but earlier: when preparing the carrier, going outside, getting into the car, waiting at reception, encountering other animals, entering the room, paying and returning home.<\/p><p data-start=\"2517\" data-end=\"2833\">\u00a0<\/p><p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"2835\" data-end=\"3070\">There can also be stress at home, because the veterinarian is still a new person handling the animal. These are cases in which, if the animal is stable and does not need complex tests, care at home can be comfortable and safe.<\/p><p data-start=\"3735\" data-end=\"3977\">\u00a0<\/p><p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"3979\" data-end=\"4239\">It can also be very useful for animals that are difficult to handle or that get very stressed when taken to the veterinarian. In these cases, a home visit helps reduce part of the stress associated with travel and allows assessment of the animal in a more familiar useful, it does not completely replace a veterinary clinic. Procedures that require fixed equipment, clinical facilities, advanced anesthesia, or continuous monitoring cannot be performed at home.<\/p><p data-start=\"4371\" data-end=\"4531\">\u00a0<\/p><p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"4371\" data-end=\"4531\">For example:<\/p><ul style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"4533\" data-end=\"4788\"><li data-section-id=\"11z5la2\" data-start=\"4533\" data-end=\"4548\">X-rays.<\/li><li data-section-id=\"7pgd9v\" data-start=\"4549\" data-end=\"4560\">Surgeries.<\/li><li data-section-id=\"iun4lz\" data-start=\"4561\" data-end=\"4579\">Hospitalization.<\/li><li data-section-id=\"17se51z\" data-start=\"4580\" data-end=\"4626\">Tests that require specific machinery.<\/li><li data-section-id=\"1x4rli8\" data-start=\"4627\" data-end=\"4666\">Procedures with general anesthesia.<\/li><li data-section-id=\"r84ukp\" data-start=\"4667\" data-end=\"4698\">Care for serious emergencies.<\/li><li data-section-id=\"1hw0hvx\" data-start=\"4699\" data-end=\"4788\">Treatments that require oxygen, intensive monitoring, or hospital medications.<\/li><\/ul><p>\u00a0<\/p><p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"4790\" data-end=\"5060\">This does not mean that the home visit is less important. It means it has clear limits. If during the visit we determine that your pet needs a test or treatment that cannot be done at home, the responsible course is to advise you on the next safest step.<\/p><p data-start=\"4790\" data-end=\"5060\">\u00a0<\/p><p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"5062\" data-end=\"5332\">Animal Salut already states in its home service that when a test or treatment not available at home is needed, such as an X-ray or surgery, the case must be referred to the veterinary clinic or a referral center.<\/p><p data-start=\"5062\" data-end=\"5332\">\u00a0<\/p><h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-section-id=\"1u20mrt\" data-start=\"5334\" data-end=\"5385\">Are veterinary emergencies attended to at home?<\/h2><p>\u00a0<\/p><p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"5387\" data-end=\"5481\">In general, <strong data-start=\"5399\" data-end=\"5480\">a home veterinary visit is not the appropriate option for an emergency<\/strong>.<\/p><p data-start=\"5387\" data-end=\"5481\">\u00a0<\/p><p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"5483\" data-end=\"5687\">The home service operates with scheduled appointments and planned travel.
