How we prepare your pet’s travel documents

1. Tell us about your trip. Give us your destination and planned or approximate departure date. Have the pages showing the owner’s details, microchip number and latest vaccinations, including rabies, ready.
2. We check the requirements for your itinerary. We explain what documents, vaccinations or tests may be needed and when to arrange the appointment.
3. We give any vaccinations your pet still needs. If your pet needs a vaccination to travel, we give it within the timeframe required by the destination.
4. We carry out the veterinary examination. We examine your pet, issue the health certificate where applicable and apply for the official export certificate through CEXGAN when required.

Frequently asked questions about travelling with your pet

Does every trip outside the EU require CEXGAN?

It depends on the destination. Some countries accept a valid EU pet passport and others require an official certificate or additional steps. If you plan to return to Spain, check the return requirements before leaving.

When should I start preparing?

Contact us when you have an approximate date. Some vaccinations or tests need to be arranged in advance. We schedule the health certificate appointment close to departure, within the destination’s required timeframe.

What if I’m travelling within the European Union?

Routine travel with dogs and cats requires identification, a valid rabies vaccination and an EU pet passport. Some destinations have additional requirements. Read our guide to travelling in Europe with a dog or cat.
